Exploring the Development of Personality: The Journey from Embryo to Adult from the Chinese Medicine Perspective

Course overview

From pre-conception to conception to gestation to post-gestation, Chinese medicine has guidance for us in helping to nurture our children. While most practitioners are familiar with the five-phase view of the personality types, there is much more to the human personality construct and development from the Chinese medical viewpoint. The Eight Extraordinary Vessels play a foundational role in who we are as individuals, community members, and sexual beings, and there are also valuable lessons to be learned from the Taoist viewpoints surrounding the 3 Hun and 7 Po. This talk will give an overview of these concepts, expanding the practitioner's look at who we are as people and the challenges we face during critical times of growth and development. By understanding our journey more completely, we can understand our patients and ourselves with greater depth.
