Course overview

This introductory course is designed for the occupational therapy practitioner whos been a practicing clinician for a number of years and may not be very familiar with the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework OTPF 3rd ed. The course can be also a refresher for newer practitioners. The OTPF provides a good guide for documenting our clinical reasoning process, the value of our evidence-based interventions and the relation of OT treatment to function. With new reimbursement models, it is imperative that OT practitioners documentation reflect the unique value of occupational therapy. Objectives 1. Summarize the main categories of the OTPF domain and process 2. Understand the benefits of incorporating the OTPF in all aspects of documentation 3. Demonstrate an understanding of the components of the Occupational Therapy Profile and use during the evaluation process 4. Develop an occupational therapy profile of a hypothetical client in any setting 5. Application of the OTPF in the new payment models PDPM& PDGM 6. Examine the benefits of using AOTA resources in clinical practice
