Course overview
This course answers the questions: what is ethics, how to grow to be an ethical person, how to make ethical choices, how to achieve happiness by being ethical, as well as what is the history of ethics. The history section of this course covers Aristotle, Christian ethics, Natural Law, Utilitarian Law, and more recent codes such as The Geneva Convention, The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and some notable quotes on ethics from around the world. We also cover how to put into practice ethical behavior, the guidelines from the APTA and some decision-making models from health care ethics and the Rotary International. Lastly, we cover Jurisprudence to include laws, rules and the Physical Therapy Practice Act, and then we apply all of these concepts to real world case studies. This is a MUST course for all PTs and PTAs.
