Mobilizing Patients After Stroke in Neuro Critical Care

Course overview
Therapy orders are often received within hours of a patient presenting to the emergency department following a stroke, with therapists making initial patient contact in the first 24 hours after admission. An early and organized mobility program coordinated by an interprofessional team is associated with a decrease in complications and improved functional outcomes. It is critical for therapy professionals to understand their role in mobilizing patients that have had a stroke. This course will discuss precautions to consider and current evidence-based strategies for providing care for this population.
