Course overview

There are various titles in healthcare administration, such as director, manager, team leader, and shift leader, as well as various corporate designations. While these titles may discern rank within an organization and a level of responsibility, most would agree that the title of leader and the actions of leadership are not tied intrinsically. This course will serve to distinguish leaders from managers by analyzing each to depict their similarities and differences, and to establish how each role plays an integral part in any healthcare organization separately and collectively. The goal of this management and leadership continuing education course is to define the roles of effective managers and leaders, and to provide a clear framework for recognizing the attributes associated with healthcare leadership.
