Understanding the Vestibular System to Improve Balance and Reduce Falls in Older Adults, Part 2
Tracking # 20-703897
Course overview
Performing activities of daily living requires coordination among the vestibular, visual, and somatosensory systems. Deterioration of these systems affects balance and increases the likelihood of falls. Fall risk assessment tools can assist therapists in determining appropriate therapeutic interventions, allow healthcare providers to monitor meaningful balance changes, and improve reimbursement by allowing practitioners to document objective balance findings consistently. This course engages the learner in how to evaluate and treat older adults with vestibular dysfunction using current, evidence-based strategies. The goal of this vestibular system educational course is to improve physical therapists knowledge about vestibular dysfunction and balance retraining with older adults.
