Objectives: 1. Explain the benefits of antiretroviral therapy (ART) and timing of ART initiation 2. Discuss initial ART options according to the most recent Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in Adults and Adolescents Living with HIV. 3. Describe factors involved in selecting initial ART 4. Discuss the importance of adherence, potential consequences of non-adherence, and strategies to promote treatment success 5. Identify resources to assist patients in maintaining access to antiretroviral therapy (ART)
