The sport of rock climbing has seen an exponential surge within the past 5 years, with the rise of indoor climbing gyms, the production of an Oscar-winning film, and the first-ever debut of the sport in the upcoming Olympic games. As such, an increase in recreational rock climbers who enter orthopedic physical therapy practices around the country with climbing-related injuries will be probable. This presentation will empower the PT professional to successfully manage rock climbing related injuries by understanding the demands of the sport, common injuries involved, and sport-specific rehabilitation in both the acute and chronic setting. This course is directly related to the practice of physical therapy and athletic training and is therefore appropriate for the PT/PTA and AT.
