Overview of Family Therapy

Course overview

Family therapy nurtures development and encourages positive change in relationships and interactions within families. Focus is placed on the family unit and its dynamics rather than the problems of an individual family member. The family itself becomes the client. In this course, you will learn the history and theoretical foundations, as well as assessment methods, approaches, and techniques used in family therapy. The goal of this educational program is to provide behavioral health counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and social workers in health and human services settings with basic skills and knowledge for the practice of family therapy.
