Group treatment with substance abusers has been effective because of the benefits of like affiliation, confrontation, support and opportunity to practice. The leader of the group is responsible to provide a safe environment, stimulate member-to-member interaction and provide a forum that allows for implementation of evidence-based practices. This session explores the principles of effective group facilitation and provides examples and practice opportunity.
