Course overview

Varied perspectives exist on the risks or dangers of radiation. When many hear the word radiation, they think of extreme and rare cases such as a nuclear meltdown. They may overlook the dangers of exposure to radiation from medical imaging (diagnostic) tests. However, careful analysis of risks of radiation from diagnostic tests reveals concerns that patients, practitioners, radiologic students and clinicians need to be aware of. This continuing education program is designed to address the dangers of radiation, specifically with medical imaging tests. Clinicians are provided with key facts on diagnostic testing risks as well as safety reminders and recommendations on how to address the dangers of radiation.
