The purpose of this article is to educate nurses about behavioral issues that may occur after traumatic brain injury. After reading this article, the nurse will be able to: 1. State the various mechanisms of brain injury. 2. Describe the pharmacologic treatments for patients with behavioral issues after brain injury. 3. Discuss non-pharmacologic measures used in the treatment of a patient who has sustained a brain injury.
