Effective leadership is crucial for the success of healthcare organizations, and with our healthcare system rapidly changing, there are multiple challenges that leaders face in ensuring that high-performing and professional standards are met. The Joint Commission has established leadership standards to which healthcare organizations strive to meet, and in order to meet these standards, nurse leaders must be educated regarding the unique and specialized needs of the healthcare industry. Only the leaders possess the resources, influence and control to lay the foundation and promote the mission, vision, goals and culture of the healthcare organization, necessitating continued education regarding effective leadership in healthcare.
