Caring for Occupational Therapy Clients with Emotional Illnesses

Course overview

Through the course of their duties, those who work in Occupational Therapy will care for many different types of clients. Some clients need care due to illness, a disability, or the effects of old age. Others will seem physically healthy, but they may be unable to fully care for themselves due to mental or emotional illness. Some clients will suffer from emotional illnesses that were brought on by another sickness or a disability. To fully care for these individuals, therapists will consider both the physical and emotional needs of their clients; having a better understanding of emotional illness helps them do this. This course discusses several mental health issues that therapists may see in their clients, along with suggestions on how to treat clients with an emotional or mental illness.
