Course overview
The purpose of this course is to ensure that nurses who provide care to children and families are aware of the current interventions for health promotion and health maintenance for the pediatric patient population. The course content is targeted to both the novice and experienced pediatric nurse. This course is arranged by specific areas of focus and provides information for each of the pediatric age groups. Confidentiality, as a special consideration for adolescent patients during their healthcare visits, will be discussed. The course will conclude with a discussion of pediatric screening procedures including vision and hearing screening, lead screening, hemoglobin/hematocrit, developmental milestones, dyslipidemia, tuberculosis, and sexual health.
