Course overview

According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a major contributor toward respiratory morbidity and mortality in the pediatric population, and it is the number one cause of death worldwide in children five years and younger. Guidelines for the management of CAP in children were established with the goal of decreasing morbidity and mortality in children, both inpatient and outpatient. By educating nurses and practitioners regarding current guidelines and best practices in the diagnosis and treatment of CAP in children, better patient outcomes will be achieved.
