Learner Objectives As a result of having attended the meeting the participants should have had the opportunity to: Discuss a recent study that questions medical necessity of HBO2 ORN prophylaxis in the modern radiotherapy era; Describe an alternative treatment approach to localized mandibular ORN using an oral antioxidant multi drug regimen; Summarize recent peer reviewed literature that involves mandibular reconstruction using vascularized free flaps and in the absence of peri-operative HBO; Discuss the potential for HBO2 to overcome tumor hypoxia-mediated radio-resistance; To understand the correct staging and treatment of osteo radionecrosis of the jaws; To learn of and the difference between the two protocols to treat Chronic Radiation Injured Tissue (CRIT) and to support the surgical treatment of Osteo radionecrosis ORN; To understand the variability of serum glucose changes in diabetics undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy; To understand that HBO2 did not cause a clinically significant decrease in diabetic patient blood glucose levels and did not cause deleterious side effects or require any emergency care.
