Objectives: Students will learn about the principles, pathology and management of the patient with an infectious or communicable disease, who is experiencing an emergency. On completion of this module, the learner will be able to: Describe the physiology of immunity and cell-mediated immunity Review the concepts of virulence, disease severity and reservoirs of infection Discuss sepsis management and isolation precautions Review the presentation and management of SIRS
