Course overview
Objectives: Students will learn about the principles, pathology and management of the pediatric patient in an emergency. On completion of this module, the learner will be able to: Discuss the management principles of cardiac defects and arrhythmias in the pediatric patient Describe 4 types of shock in the pediatric patient Review the presentation and management of renal conditions in the pediatric patient, including acute glomerulonephritis, acute tubular necrosis and hemolytic uremic syndrome Discuss the presentation and management of head injuries and increased intracranial pressure in the pediatric population Review spinal cord injuries in children Describe the management of pediatric fracturesRecognize signs of abuse and neglect in children
