Course overview

This is the fourth course in a series on Nutrition and Exercise in the aging population. The focus is interdisciplinary, looking specifically at the aging process, and deals with the changing perspectives concerning nutrition and exercise’s relationship to health, diseases and aging. This course will focus on exercise management and proper nutritional intake in order to encourage a balanced diet, activity, and exercise as a way of preventing and/or stalling diseases. The role of exercise in health maintenance is an important component of this course series. Exercise prescription and integration with nutritional needs are presented. Preventive interventions and screening for problems to prevent disability are discussed.
