Course overview

Over 1.5 million workers are confronted with work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) every year. While back injuries account of one half of those injuries, MSDs include damage done to muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints, to name a few. It is the goal of this course to provide an introduction to the science of ergonomics and how it relates to the fields of physical therapy, rehabilitation and other physically-demanding occupations. This course provides information on how to avoid injuries and offers recommendations for proper use of the body to lift, move and adjust clients. Both State and Federal health and safety administrations require recordkeeping of injuries and near misses, the basic requirements for keeping those records and where you can get more information will be reviewed in this course.
