Managing Rotator Cuff Rehabilitation
Tracking # 20-596140
Course overview
Rotator cuff pathology is a very common cause of shoulder pain, weakness, and limitations of daily activities, resulting in lost time at work and play. Many people can recover after physical therapy alone, depending on the size and type of rotator cuff tear. Others do not respond to more conservative management approaches, requiring surgery to repair a rotator cuff injury. There are many common rotator cuff pathologies that lead to rotator cuff dysfunction. Rotator cuff tears can be treated conservatively, without surgery, or through one of several surgical approaches. It is important to understand the proper rehabilitation protocol following surgery for the patient to reach the best outcome. This course will discuss the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder, leading to a better understanding the impact of a rotator cuff injury. We will also discuss the proper rehabilitation protocol following rotator cuff surgery, along with other non-conservative approaches to the management of rotator cuff tears.
