This ethics course covers important codes of ethics including those of Sun Simiao (a 7th century Chinese medicine physician), the NCCAOM, and the World Medical Association. Ethical responsibilities regarding medical errors are reviewed, including issues involving medical equipment failures, moxibustion, and heat lamps. The ethics of sharing medical information is covered, including the ethical conduct of Chinese medicine founding figures Hua Tuo, Bian Que, and Zhang Zhongjing. The ethical conduct of Chinese medicine physician Cang Gong is compared with modern HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) requirements.
