Medical Errors and Physician Burnout
Tracking # 20-713007
Course overview
The purpose of this course is to educate physicians about the prevalence and nature of medical errors with a specific focus on the role that clinician burnout may play in the occurrence of such errors. The course will cover factors that increase risk for burnout, and factors that can mitigate or reduce that risk. The course reviews the multi-factorial nature of burnout, examining contributory causes at the level of individual physicians and at higher systems levels, such as the ways that technology can either exacerbate, or reduce, the experience of burnout and, thus, potentially impact rates of medical errors.
