How to Understand a Chest X-Ray, Part 2

Course overview

The chest x-ray includes two important organ systems: the lungs and the heart. In addition, the content of the mediastinum, such as the blood vessels, thymus glands, and other structures, such as the ribs, diaphragm, pleura, and clavicle, that can be assessed. It is important to understand that the chest x-ray is not a very sensitive technique, and the findings must be collaborated with patient history and/or physical findings. The only way to be proficient in analyzing and understanding a chest x-ray is to practice the art regularly. This course presents the more common chest x-ray pathologies encountered in daily medical practice. The goal of this radiology continuing education program is to provide physicians, nurses, and radiologic technologists with information on how to identify common disorders seen on a chest x-ray.
