Course overview

This course provides breakthrough understanding of how to treat the various types of herpes infections: Herpes Simplex 1 &2 and Herpes Zoster (commonly known as shingles). It clearly explains the causes of these herpes infections from both Western and TCM anatomical and physiological perspectives. Such perspectives make clear when it is appropriate to refer patients to medical doctors for treatment of herpes infections and the contraindications of pharmaceuticals, herbs, and foods which may aggravate herpes infections. The course also educates the acupuncture/TCM practitioner how to do differential diagnosis of the various types of herpes infections and the specific TCM syndromes that give rise to outbreaks. The course furthermore teaches what forms of therapy within TCM are most dramatically effective for treating the various kinds of herpes infections.
