Course overview
Athletic Trainers and other healthcare professionals are exposed to an ever increasing environment of changing and evolving sports and competitions. Additionally, the fields of physical therapy and sports medicine are constantly updating and exploring new variables in treatment and recovery. This burgeoning diversity creates greater need than ever before for athletic trainers to remain current in their knowledge of sports injuries and treatment options. This course provides the Athletic Trainer with a resource for recognizing and understanding the characteristics of the most common injuries sustained by American athletes. The nature of each injury, tissue affected, impact on sports performance will be discussed as well as traditional and recently introduced approaches to rehabilitation. The viewer will gain an updated understanding of major sports injuries and be well prepared to participate in professionally administered rehabilitation and exercise programs.
