Course overview

This course will examine the early years of the twenty-first century child; how the traditional autocratic styles of child rearing have evolved into a more democratic social system that nurtures through an interdependence of family and community systems. We will evaluate the impact of changing environmental forces upon young children including family, social dynamics, and diet. Theories of life-span development will be presented with attention to the therapeutic methods of modern day family systems therapies.
