Target Audience: The target audience for this education program is nurses who provide nursing care to patients with sleep disorders and who want to enhance their nursing skills in this field. Course Overview: Sleep disorders are a fairly common problem. Sleep disorders are often accompanied by depression, anxiety, and cognitive changes. This course provides information about various sleep disorders, their demographics, etiology, diagnosis, and treatment. Objectives: Upon completion of this education program, the learner should be able to: 1. Identify the risk factors for insomnia disorder. 2. Describe treatment strategies for insomnia disorder. 3. Discuss the diagnostic process for hypersomnolence disorder. 4. Identify appropriate measures to decrease hypersomnolence. 5. Discuss the demographics related to narcolepsy. 6. Evaluate treatment initiatives for narcolepsy. 7. Identify possible causes/risk factors for nightmare disorder. 8. Explain how nightmare disorder is treated. 9. Describe diagnostic criteria for non-rapid eye movement sleep arousal disorders. 10. Discuss treatment of non-rapid eye movement sleep arousal disorders.
