Course overview

This 2.5-hour online program is a live recorded video presentation given by Kay Coulter, CRNI, VA-BC that is designed to educate healthcare professionals about the prevalence of medical errors and prevention strategies. Everyone involved in the care of a patient has a duty to help prevent medical errors leading to potential patient injury or death. Topics that will be discussed include recognizing error-prone situations; an overview of FDA guidelines; facts about medication errors; reporting responsibilities; high risk patient populations; review of Highly Reliable Organizations (HRO's); review of Root Cause Anaylsis (RCA); and strategies to reduce medical error occurrences and improve patient outcomes.
