The goal of this self learning module is to provide healthcare providers with information about patient assessment, advocacy and communication, ethical and legal considerations, and clinician education related to vascular access. Upon completion of this module, the participant will be able to: State five basic concepts related to the placement of vascular access devices in patients List five condition/disease states that must be considered prior to the insertion of a vascular access device Define the term interdisciplinary collaboration List five ethical principles related to healthcare Explain the difference between assault and battery
