Course overview

Telehealth was identified in 2011 as an emerging niche for occupational therapy, following in the footsteps of speech therapy. Physical therapy followed soon after. Since that time the field has grown significantly, but many therapists struggle with the idea of using a virtual delivery service model to provide the same quality of therapy services. Many misconceptions and confusing terminology cloud the issue, causing confusion and doubt regarding how to provide these innovative services. The Telehealth Rehabilitation course will clearly describe what telehealth entails, what is required for quality services, and how to utilize skills in a virtual field. Emphasis in the latter half of the course will be on how to incorporate technology without compromising effectiveness, utilizing case studies and real world examples to provide specific treatment strategies
