Course overview

Children in speech therapy, especially in school environments, often work on the same sound for years when their articulation is actually a symptom of a larger structural or functional issue. Correct differential diagnosis and treatment planning is essential for these children to get the most efficient and effective therapy. Objective Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Introduce concepts of oromyofunctional and oral placement disorder Know the red flags associated with oromyofunctional disorders Know the basics of differential diagnosis for articulation v. structural v. placement disorder Have practical treatment techniques for clients with oromyofunctional and oral placement disorders.
