Course overview

This presentation will discuss early feeding difficulties commonly observed in infants and children with cleft palate with or without cleft lip. In addition, early speech and language difficulties will be examined with emphasis on appropriate early intervention approaches to remediating the speech-language difficulties. Objective Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify 3 possible impacts of cleft on feeding and speech development. Describe 3 compensations for feeding difficulties associated with cleft palate. Develop 3 different therapy activities directed at remediating speech-language deficits associated with cleft palate. Additional Information Expires for ASHA credit: 11/10/17. It will not be reported to the ASHA registry if completed after this date.
