Course overview
Drugs are prescribed for the care of individuals of all ages. But, in older adults, drug use can have greater risks, especially when several drugs are taken at one time. Safe medication use for the elderly requires vigilance on the part of the caregiver as well as the older individual. This course will discuss how medications affect the elderly and how the amount and type of drugs taken by individuals differs as people age. In addition, the course will talk about pharmacokinetics, changes in pharmacodynamics, and pharmacogenomics.
