Learn moreCourse overview
This course will provide the learner with the requirements to understand the concept of hospice from an overview of the evidence-based literature that exists today. Hospice is a concept of care designed to provide comfort and support to terminally ill patients and their families. The hospice model affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. It neither hastens nor postpones death. Hospice provides personalized services within a caring environment so that patients and their families can receive the necessary preparation for a death that is acceptable to them. The very nature of dying is so unique that the goal of the team of hospice caregivers is to be sensitive and responsive to the distinct requirements of each individual and family.
