Course overview

Proper assessment and management of a sport-related concussion is crucial, as repeat concussions can result in decreased neurocognitive functioning, increased symptomatology, and at times, catastrophic outcomes. Recently, there has been an abundance of research in an effort to better define, diagnose, manage, and treat concussion. Bridging the gap between research and clinical practice is the key to reducing the incidence and severity of sport-related concussion and improving return-to-play decisions. In this course, Dr. Bruce reviews the current state of concussion assessment and management. Healthcare professionals at all levels of experience will learn from this evidence-based presentation to aid in their daily practice with concussions from basic skills to advanced technologies used in the assessment and management of sport-related concussion. Finally, Dr. Bruce provides tips and ideas for implementing a comprehensive concussion program for all employment settings.
