Course overview

This course was revised to include the updated CLIA regulations. The course defines the Quality Assessment (Assurance) process according to CLIA '88. The course covers CLIA standards for all areas of laboratory operations under the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases of testing. The difference between quality control and quality assurance is addressed, as well as the goals and benefits of having a written Quality Assurance Plan for the laboratory. Sample documentation and logs are provided to illustrate record-keeping techniques that satisfy QA requirements. This course addresses the process of Quality Assessment as well as the basics of quality systems, the benefits of a QA Plan and the importance of implementing a QA process your laboratory.
