Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance requires all health professionals to adapt to evolving principles of patient privacy and protection of healthcare information. All members of the health team are required to demonstrate accountability to follow health organizational rules designed to protect patient information. HIPAA compliance can be achieved through a common-sense approach to patient privacy rules, such as use of technological tools. HIPAA sections are discussed with an emphasis on key intentions of the Act. No Test Required!
