DMT175-20 ADASP: Molecular Pathology-Anatomic Pathology Interactions.

Course overview

The session will be a case-based outline of selected aspects on how molecular and anatomic pathology can interact during the workup of multifocal lung cancer. The session is split into three parts: first, a brief introduction outlining the overarching concept (5'); second, a core molecular pathology and anatomic pathology interaction part that entails a brief overview of the anatomic pathology workup (10'), the AJCC staging update (examplified on a concrete case; 7-10'), the molecular workflow and test results (10'), an approach to integrate these molecular results with anatomic findings (10'), an outline to delineate the clonal relationship between lesions (7-10') and the relevance for anatomic staging (5-7'); the third and last part of the session will focus on the molecular and anatomic findings from an oncologist perspective (15'). Specifically, a focus will be placed on molecular alterations as biomarkers in the context of current evidence-based guidelines and personalized diagnostic workflows.
