Course Description: To prevent human trafficking effectively, the Trafficking in Persons Protocol requires States to endeavor to undertake measures such as social and economic initiatives, research, and media campaigns targeting potential victims. This course discusses principles of prevention and policies to address them. The root causes of trafficking range from gender-based discrimination and economic disempowerment to corruption, issues of citizenship, and safe mobility. Checklists are offered to assist in developing strategies to address these issues. Raising awareness about trafficking is necessary to empower people to avoid falling prey to traffickers.
