Based on the book “Casebook of Evidence-Based Therapy for Eating Disorders” edited by Heather Thompson-Brenner, PhD. Awards 14 CE credits upon successful completion of the 135-question test. This book-based CE program will help participants to list and describe five different types of eating disorders; describe how behavioral therapy is used to treat certain features of eating disorders such as fear of eating; explain how cognitive therapy can be used alone and/or in conjunction with other therapies to treat different types of eating disorders; explain how affect-based approaches to psychotherapy such as psychoanalytic psychotherapy are effectively utilized to treat certain eating disorders; name two relationally focused approaches to therapy that have extensive empirical support and have also been shown to be affective in the treatment of certain eating disorders; evaluate whether therapeutic approaches being utilized to treat eating disorders meet the author’s criteria for an “integrative approach” to treatment; list four integrative approaches that meet the criteria for evidence-based treatment for different types of eating disorders; compare and contrast different treatment approaches for eating disorders; identify and assess the limitations of the different evidence-based approaches to eating disorder treatment; identify and select appropriate treatment for lesser known eating disorders such as Night Eating Syndrome; identify and select appropriate evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents with different types of eating disorders; and identify and select appropriate evidenced-based treatment for adults with different types of eating disorders.
