Statement of Learning Need

Infection, blood clot and pain prevention are common medical considerations for patients undergoing bone and joint surgery. Multiple research studies have been conducted to determine the best course of pharmacological treatment. Additional studies are needed, however the general guidelines for medical care during the pre-, intra- and postoperative phases of bone and joint surgery include drug selection, dosing, and safe use that are required clinician competencies to ensure best patient outcomes.

Course Purpose 

To provide health clinicians with current knowledge of pharmacology recommendations for bone and joint surgery. 

Target Audience

Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, and other Interdisciplinary Health Team Members.
