Course overview
Evaluation and management of a patient who may be a danger to himself or others is a common challenge in emergency medicine and other acute care settings. It is important for nurses and practitioners to be able to recognize patients at risk for suicide and danger to others. The program provides an overview of the appropriate evaluation and makes recommendations for management of this challenging patient population. The program also addresses duty to third party law and when the practitioner has a legal or ethical duty to act in order to protect a third party who may be in danger.
