Course overview

Many individuals who are in a hospital or at home following a prolonged illness or injury that impacts mobility become frustrated when they cannot move around as they desire. Mobility and ambulation are important to overall health and recovery from illness and injury. Often, this recovery includes the support of care providers skilled in lifting, moving, and supporting an individual with limited mobility. Some patients also need help with their basic needs because they not longer possess enough movement control to complete hygiene or other daily tasks without assistance. This course discusses how care providers can offer support to individuals with mobility and ambulation issues, whether that includes minimal support or more extensive lifting and transferring needs.
