Course overview

Health professionals are required to be aware of the problem of human trafficking, to recognize it and to know how intervene. This training is necessary to renew the licenses starting on January 2019. Human trafficking is a growing social concern worldwide. Does not matter the effort to prevent it, and this form of human slavery is an abuse that affects all age groups, genders, and ethnicities. In our country (USA) there are laws to combat the human trafficking and the law enforcement agencies are acting against any violation and complicity with the human trafficking. The health care setting and the health care providers are increasingly confronting with the demoralizing and crippling effects this abuse has on individuals, whole families, and communities, although many health care professionals do not realize that, the abuse of human trafficking could be detected in their daily practice before it is recognized by the law enforcement agencies. This course discussed the social trends and cause of human trafficking, statistics, variations of human trafficking such as debt bondage, domestic services, organ trafficking, forced labor, sex trafficking, as many others forms of human trafficking; who are the more vulnerable victims , and how to be prepared to detect in the health care setting this despicable form of abuse. Included in the course how to report the cases of human trafficking, and where to find places in the State of Florida working with victims, the vulnerable ones and the community.
