Course overview

EMS responders in the U.S. have witnessed or responded to various international and terrorist events, such as bioterrorism in the form of Anthrax, explosives, bombings or shootings. Terrorist events are unforeseeable and involve a combination of hospital emergency department, EMS, and public health resources. It is essential that responders establish the basis for managing terrorist-related incidents with approaches that are practiced every day. This program discusses how preparation, community assessment, recognition of a terrorist event, and responder safety combined with day-to-day delivery of care and routine use of the incident management system will lay the groundwork for a strong terrorist response program.
