Course overview
This program reviews the signs and symptoms associated with bloodborne and other communicable diseases. Highlighted is the importance of using personal protective equipment when contact with blood is expected or when signs and symptom indicate a potential for exposure. Kathy West also explains the latest on hepatitis B, and C, and the affects of the universal hepatitis b vaccine on healthcare workers. A discussion of MRSA, the H1N1 virus and HIV are included, as well as how to protect yourself from exposures. Post exposure care, follow up and the Ryan White Care Act are stressed.
