Course overview

The hardest, most physically and mentally taxing job of all? Firefighting. Your job is stressful; the environment is unpredictable, hazardous, and emotionally challenging. More than 100 line-of-duty deaths occur each year. Eighty thousand responders are injured, a quarter of whose injuries result from over-exertion and strain. Use of on-scene incident rehab is an important way to reduce these numbers. Rehab is set up specifically to provide rest, rehydration, nourishment, medical monitoring, and medical evaluations for emergency response personnel. Rehab is used at extreme-incident operations and at training exercises. EMS is an important part of rehab operations.
