Course overview

An important part of cancer care is symptom management. This course is designed for licensed acupuncturists to safely care for cancer patients undergoing Western treatment through providing Chinese Medicine for symptom relief and side effects management. Providing cancer patients with physical symptom relief in addition to emotional support is vital. Participants will learn the basics of how cancer is detected according to western medicine, an understanding of basic treatments protocols, and most importantly, specifics on the management of several major side effects associated with usual cancer treatments. In addition, the course will delve into analyzing and evaluating current research using acupuncture as a pain- and symptom-management method.
